Waka di Ume Ubud Resort and Spa is a very different resort in Ubud. An Oasis of quite and serenity, only minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, the cultural and artistic heart of Bali .

Waka di Ume has been operated since 1995. To begin with, it has been designed to be small and intimate: only sixteen dwellings, eleven in the lanai style, two villas and three suites. It is an escape from the modern world. Away from television, away from radio, and even away from telephone, if you wish.

Ketut Siandana is a Balinese Architect as well as a director of the hotel and it is his creation. To people who know him, he is a visionary-the new generation of Balinese, the hope for future, if Bali is to retain its special magic, a traditionalist whose vision is to present the Bali experience in an unique way.

Waka di Ume gives visitors a chance to experience this and the many guests who have stayed there agree with him. You are in rice fields, you are part of the culture, you have been transported to another place another time-the Bali you came for.

You will stay in one of the sixteen individualistic and distinctive dwelling units, scattered down the gentle hillside flanked by rice fields.

Everywhere at Waka di Ume Ubud Resort and Spa, you are surrounded by the textures and colour of nature, dressed slate, tiles, smooth unpainted wood, soft homespun, fabrics, intricate worked copper, fragrant alang-alang grass roofing, natural bamboo, rough cut stone, flowers and foliage.

Two of suites have private pools and all rooms have sunken bath – some with an outside garden shower.
