Description
The unique Les Armures hotel housed in a 17th-century building in the heart of Geneva's old town boasts a unique atmosphere, charming rooms and fine cuisine.
Today, the hotel is run by the Borgeat-Granges family, offering luxury yet unpretentious accommodation and excellent dining. Guests will sleep within walls steeped in history beside the adjoining St. Pierre Cathedral.
Guest rooms are all air-conditioned and lavishly furnished, feature marble bathrooms, thick bathrobes and the latest technology including free wireless internet access and satellite TVs.
If you appreciate the work of the interior designer Philippe Michiels (known for mixing old and new), please ask for one of the recently refurbished rooms.
Café Les Armures is a city landmark and Geneva oldest coffee house, a popular spot among locals and a must-see for visitors. The restaurant serves classic French gourmet cuisine while in the cellar the Carnotzet offers cheese specialities including Raclette and Fondue.
Les Armures has been a magnet for foreign dignitaries wishing to discover the true soul of this otherwise international city. Les Armures has welcomed such famous guests as presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter and John F. Kennedy.
"Les Armures" is obviously ideally located to discover the treasures of the Old Town and its picturesque pedestrian street lined by Mediaeval and Renaissance buildings. Yet it is within a 10 minutes walk from the shopping district, the lakefront promenade, the "Saint Peter's Cathedral" and the main museums (open on Sunday).
Car access to the Old Town is available until 8pm. If you are expecting to arrive at the hotel late at night, the Concierge can email you an official pass allowing you to drive into the Old Town at night.
