Preserving the noble appearance of an antique, aristocratic Luccan villa, La Principessa is one of the most elegant hotels in Tuscany. Originally the home and court of Castruccio Castracani in the late thirteenth century, Lord and Duke of Lucca, a man of arms and mercenary captain in the service of Ludwig of Bavaria, this classical country residence radiates all the charm, sophistication and elegance of a past era.

This quiescent retreat is nestled at the base of the hills surrounding Lucca. The grounds surrounding the hotel are lush and skilfully kempt. The formal park, with its plantings and great trees, provides an attractive setting for the solarium and swimming pool, quiet nooks for an open-air lunch and other pleasantries.

The interior of La Principessa can best be described as rich in colours, textures and ambiance. Deep hues of red, green and blue can be found throughout the villa complimented by vaulted wood ceilings and elegant archways. The 41 guest rooms differ in size and layout, but all feature comfortable furnishings, an individual bar, satellite television and WiFi internet connection. The Chef at La Principessa prepares a simple and savoury selection of dishes from traditional Tuscan cuisine.
