Description
This former Franciscan monastery dates from the 17th century, and lies in the centre of the ancient Andalusian town of Vejer de la Frontera.
True to its past, the Convento San Francisco has a tranquil, rustic atmosphere, allowing you to relax in peace. Its historic details, including mosaics and religious frescoes, along with panoramic, hilltop views create a unique setting. Enjoy visits to the surrounding authentic white villages of traditional Andalusia, or take the short journey to some of the fantastic nearby beaches.
The building's dining hall is still in use today, providing a charming setting for a delicious meal after a day's sightseeing.
The hotel dining room, still referred to as El Refectorio, serves local cuisine in the same room as the monks once ate. Nowadays, the dishes served are far richer and more creative than in past times, but they still make use of fresh local products and recipes.
You will also find a cafe-bar, the Gran Taberna de La Plazuela, where you can enjoy breakfast and a wide variety of local wines and traditional tapas.
The hotel's natural surroundings include beautiful beaches, the nearest being 9 km away, and several golf courses. Spend a pleasant daytrip visiting Gibraltar, Tarifa or the natural parks of the region.
