Description
The Classical King George Palace is located in the centre of the golden quarter, between the Parliament, the Constitution Square, the Stadiou avenue and the Voucourestiou street.
The palace was originally built to serve as an annex to the palace, which occupied the building that housed Greece's Parliament on the square's eastern flank. Later, it served briefly as the prime minister's residence before being acquired by a Greek businessman who added several floors and converted it into a hotel.
One of its first guests was King George II, who made it his haunt. In the 50s, 60s and 70s, it was also the favourite hotel of international celebrities, magnates, world leaders and movie stars. These included Aristotle Onassis and Maria Kallas, Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Frank Sinatra and Francois Mitterand.
The hotel propose 102 ultra-luxurious rooms and suites. They are individually decorated with a rich residential feeling, complemented by the latest technology combined with antique furniture and murano chandeliers. Meticulous attention has been devoted to every detail in order to guarantee rest and serenity.
On the 7th floor, the Tudor Hall, Athens' most acclaimed gourmet restaurant in town, overlooks the Acropolis and boasts a Greco-French menu by galloping Gallic Gourmet Alain Ducasse formation. A royal delight, the palace's spa offers an array of rejuvenating treatments combining the best of ancient and modern techniques. You can take a dive in the swimming pool or relax in the Jacuzzi tub.
On the ground floor, the T Palace is an all day lounge bar and restaurant, making it the ideal place for a rendezvous, after-work drink or dinner party. Enjoy good food and drinks while listening to music played by DJs.
Ideally located on Constitution Square, this hotel is one of the most famous landmarks in Athens. It rests in the heart of the business and shopping district, and within walking distance of the Acropolis, Old City (Plaka) and most of the city's sights and attractions.
By Plane: Athens International Airport (El. Venizelos) is 39 km from the hotel and 10 km from Piraeus Port. Private or public transport is easily available. Opposite the hotel, the Athenian Metro provides access to most areas of Athens.
By Car (from the airport): - Take the Attiki Odos motorway and exit for Imitos. - Exit for Mesogion Avenue, then turn left at the traffic lights onto Mesogion Avenue. - Follow signs for Vas. Sofias Avenue, which leads onto Syntagma Square, where the King George Hotel is located.
A taxi and limousine service from the airport is available at an additional cost.
Combining the elegance and stature of a historic landmark, the hotel houses modern amenities and personal service that places your comfort above all else. This important aspect is maintained right down to a personal trainer in the modern health club.
