Description
Exquisite, entirely restored 19th building, Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel is now a non-smoking hotel conveniently located in the historic centre of Siracusa, enjoying the stunning views of the Ortigia Sea.
The hotel is near the ancient Mastra Rua where the Siracusan nobility resided as far back as the 14th century. The property's restoration has carefully maintained the original, well-planned structure which is made up of several buildings.
All of the rooms are furnished differently with a refined interior design, featuring individual and distinctive decors which incorporate antique furniture, Mediterranean style bathroom tiles and four-poster beds. The furnishings and fittings have been restored and include the traditional Sicilian touches
Rooms with sea views are available at an additional cost. Extra beds and cots are only available in junior suites.
Open all the year round, the hotel also offers free internet access, a restaurant and bar, making for the perfect base from which to explore this fascinating region.
The charming restaurant offers only the highest quality cuisine; great care is taken in the preparation and presentation of dishes which represent the best of the Mediterranean tradition. International cuisine is also served, as well as a special menu for vegetarians and those with coeliac disease.
The hotel is located on the Lungomare in the heart of Ortigia, the historic centre of the city. Piazza Archimede is the main attraction, this square was considered the richest and most elegant part of the city until the end of the 1960's. There is also the Baroque Piazza Duomo square, with its cathedral built around the remains of the Temple of Athena from the 5th century BC, the Fountain of Aretusa where papyrus grows naturally as it does along the banks of the River Ciane, and Palazzo Bellomo dating from the 13th to the 15th century, the seat of the Regional Museum of Medieval and Modern Art.
It is impossible to sum up the beauty of the isle of Ortigia and the old city of Siracusa, but there is always the sea, the large natural port which is extremely beautiful at sunset, the market and the various monuments.
