1864 The Sea Captain’s House & Spa

Overlooking the sea and the volcanic caldera of Santorini, the 1864 The Sea Captain's House and Spa is a hotel which was, as its name suggests, an old captain's house from the late eighteen-hundreds.

A historic protected building in Italian Renaissance style, this hotel adapts perfectly to the island's own local architecture with cathedral style ceilings.

It features direct views to the sea, caldera and volcano from the three suites and the decoration is antiques and artwork from the island and from abroad. It is beautifully situated atop the cliffs of the Oia village at the tip of the island of Santorini.

A highlight of the hotel is its Caldera Massages Studio next door - a special place to relax with body and facial treatments in the unique cave rooms or on the rooftop terrace with peaceful views.

Each suite in the hotel comes with an array of items which were designed to deliver a comfortable and welcoming experience, not to mention a touch of authenticity in recreating an ambiance fit for a captain.

They come with such luxuries as an antique canopy bed, white marble bathroom with a jacuzzi-style bathtub, satellite television with a DVD and CD player, and even complimentary soft drinks and mineral water.

The two restaurants in the village are both owned by the hotel, Ambrosia and Ambrosia & Nectar, for which hotel guests receive priority table bookings. Not only that, but the hotel is crowned by the rooftop "Caldera Rivage" terrace with an outdoor jacuzzi and shower, as well as sunbeds, perfect for lounging about and soaking up the Greek sun.

Oia is considered the most well protected and traditional village on the island and is unique in Greece. The Sea Captain's House is one of the largest mansions of Oia located in the quiet area at the centre of the town.
